Speech Therapy:
The Speech
Therapy Department of KVPTC is proud to have five nationally certified and
state licensed speech-language therapists who have a wide range of
experience with a multitude of disabilities and disorders as well as 10-30
years experience.
Services
offered include evaluation and treatment for all areas of communication
including articulation, language, voice and fluency. All therapy
approaches are current and materials are up-to-date. Articulation and
phonological process disorders, dysarthria, oral motor deficits, apraxia
and unintelligible speech are remediated using a wide range of techniques
including but not limited to programs developed by Kaufman, Talk Tools and Boschart. Expressive and receptive language disorders including
social/pragmatic delays due to autism, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI)
and other language disorders are treated. Autistic spectrum disorders
receive a variety of treatment techniques including, but not limited to
Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Applied Behavioral Analysis
(ABA), SCERTS and TEACCH as well as computerized instruction. For
children with hearing impairments and cochlear implants the SPICE program,
auditory verbal therapy and sign language are utilized. Augmentative
communication systems are also available including device trials for
nonverbal patients. State of the art computer programs are accessed for a
variety of disorders. |
